Zendaya‘s fans (including us) are getting so impatient over new music from the talented star — but there’s a reason it’s actually taking so long.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming actress answered some fan questions on her website and explained the delay to everyone.

“To be completely honest with you let me just say that certain labels and companies don’t like you to be an individual,” Zendaya says. “They want you to be a puppet and I refuse to do that.”

“So that’s why it’s taking a lot longer. A little T for you.”
