Tom Holland Says Trying on the 'Spider-Man' Costume for First Time was 'Disappointing'

Tom Holland‘s first time in his Spider-Man suit didn’t go as planned – he admits, it was kind of underwhelming.

“I have to say it was very disappointing,” the 21-year-old actor expressed to a surprised crowd on last night’s (June 27) episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I’ll explain. Everyone’s like, ‘What a d—.’”

“I go to my costume fitting and there’s all these mirrors so I had them close the mirrors because I wanted to see the suit for the first time on. I put the suit on. It felt great,” Tom continued, admitting something was wrong. “Because it was my stunt double’s suit, and he was much bigger than me, it was really baggy and saggy and it looked like a very old, sad Spider-Man. It definitely wasn’t as heroic as I would have hoped.”

“When they announced that they were recasting Spider-Man I couldn’t have imagined that I would get the job,” Tom concluded. “I asked my agents for an audition just because I wanted to meet the Marvel people … but now, I’m in the movie so it’s crazy.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be in theaters July 7!
