“Our primary focus for the rollout will be in the markets where HBO Max has already launched,” JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Interactive at WBD, said, via Deadline. “We plan to launch the service sequentially starting in the U.S. next summer (2023). Latin America will follow later in the year. European markets with HBO Max will follow in early ‘24, with additional launches and key Asia Pacific territories and some new European markets coming later in 2024.”

WBD CEO David Zaslav also noted that they are looking to have ad-free, ad-lite and ad-only options when the new streaming service launches.

Some things they look to focus on is a single global brand, customer experiences and quality, common tech “best of both” platform, efficient, scalable and resilient, scalable partner integrations, and modular capabilities like on-demand and live streaming, and multi-tier (sports) and transactional.

“There’s much work to be done over the coming months,” Perrette said, noting they have to retool the tech platform and migrate customers. “There’s lots to do, we’re determined to get it right, which will take a bit of time.”

If you haven’t seen, the company is getting a lot of backlash for a sexist graphic shared during the earnings call.
