'Hawkeye' Directors Bert & Bertie In Talks to Direct Big Thunder Mountain Disney Movie

A Big Thunder Mountain movie is in the works!

Hawkeye‘s Bert and Bertie are reportedly in negotiations to direct the feature for Disney, according to Deadline.

Plot details on the movie are currently unknown.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a coaster at four Disney Parks – in Frontierland at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris, and in Westernland at Tokyo Disneyland.

Here’s a synopsis of the ride, via Disneyland: Legend has it that after gold was discovered in the 1850s, eerie incidents took place in the mine. Trains would take off and race through tunnels… by themselves. As you enter the cursed cavern, your train speeds up along the rickety track. Shoot under a booming waterfall and dodge a falling boulder from an unexpected landslide as you swoop around sharp turns and drop into desolate canyons. On this rip-roaring adventure, you may learn that some legends turn out to be true…

The attraction first opened at Disneyland in 1979.

This marks the latest Disney Parks attraction to get the movie treatment, following recent films Jungle Cruise, the upcoming Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tomorrowland (though technically based on the themed land), and a Tower of Terror movie in the works with Scarlett Johansson.

Bert and Bertie most recently directed three episodes of Hawkeye, plus two eps of The Great in 2020, as well as Prime Video’s Troop Zero, Dance Camp, Kidding, Worm and more.
