Heartstopper's Kit Connor Comes Out, Slams Critics of His Casting

Kit Connor returned to Twitter on Monday (October 31) to share some very personal news.

The 18-year-old Heartstopper star left the app back in September after his casting on the show was criticized due to him not yet disclosing his sexuality.

In his new tweet, Kit came out and revealed how he identifies, while also slamming critics.

“back for a minute. i’m bi. congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. i think some of you missed the point of the show. bye,” he added.

Kit then received an outpouring of love and support from fans in the replies and quote tweets.

Previously, Kit has publicly stated that he does not need to label himself publicly.

If you didn’t know, Kit plays Nick Nelson on the hit Netflix series. In the first season, his character on the show, which is based off a web comic and graphic novel, goes through a journey of discovering his sexuality after meeting Charlie Spring.

Heartstopper was renewed for two more seasons earlier this year, with filming on the second season currently underway.

Back in July, Kit joined several of his cast mates at the London Pride Parade.
