Chris Pine Returns to Disney to Star In 4th Movie, First Look Revealed!

Chris Pine is reuniting with Disney for another movie!

The 42-year-old actor will be returning to the house of mouse as he joins the voice cast of the upcoming brand new animated musical-comedy Wish.

Chris‘ casting was announced on Wednesday (April 26) during 2023 CinemaCon, and it was revealed he will voice the role of King Magnifico, marking his third royal role in a Disney movie!

King Magnifico is the ruler of Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true.

“As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some,” Wish co-writer and executive producer Jennifer Lee shared in a statement.

Wish was first announced at the D23 Expo back in September 2022, with the release date being revealed at that time as well.

The upcoming movie introduces Asha, a sharp-witted idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star set out to prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Also starring in the movie are Ariana DeBose as Asha and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino.

Frozen‘s Chris Buck will direct with Fawn Veerasunthorn, with original music by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice and a score by Dave Metzger.

Wish will premiere this fall.

In case you forgot, Chris‘ first Disney movie was The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, where he played Lord Nicholas Devereaux, and Jennifer Lee also co-wrote. It was also his feature film debut!

Chris then went on to play Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods in 2014, followed by Mr Murry in A Wrinkle in Time in 2018.
