Sabrina Carpenter Says This Is the First Reason Why She Loves Music

Sabrina Carpenter opens up about her love of music!

The 24-year-old actress and singer has been focusing a lot more on her music career lately, after releasing her latest album emails i can’t send, and going on tour in support of it.

She’s heading back out on the road for European dates on her own, and she’s joining Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour on select international dates in 2023 and 2024.

In a recent magazine cover interview, she dished on her music, singing different genres, her songwriting process and more.

“It felt, honestly, more exciting to write the truth, whether that was positive or negative or, like, pretty or ugly or well-received or not,” she told Vogue Philippines. “I think it mattered that I was saying what I felt instead of trying to sugarcoat things.”

“For a long time, I had a lot of people telling me I had to do one thing and one sound and one genre,” she recalled about switching up her musical style. “And the thing I loved the most about pop music was that it was so many different genres. So I kind of did my very best to do that in one album, as much as I could. And I probably will keep doing that because that’s what keeps it exciting for me.”

On how her music can affect others so intrinsically, she’s found that with music from other artists as well, and that’s a big reason why she loves music.

“Songs really find you when you need them the most,” Sabrina told the mag. “When they capture a feeling that you’ve been trying to put into words, that’s when it finds you. And the fact that any of my songs could do that for someone else is, like, truthfully, the reason why I love music in the first place. So it’s a very wholesome feeling to look back to and be like, ‘Okay, this is why I’m doing it. This is why I love it.’”
