Dove Cameron won the Best New Artist award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (August 28) at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
The 26-year-old singer and actress picked up the big win over Latto, Baby Keem, SEVENTEEN, GAYLE and Måneskin.
Dove was truly surprised at her win, which was presented by Avril Lavigne.
“Thank you so much! I’m so floored. I’m so moved. This is so wild to be up here with so many artists that I worship, these are some of my all time favorite artists up here,” she started her acceptance speech.
Dove then went on to dedicate her award to queer kids.

Dove Cameron and Sofia Carson have both hit the carpet in stunning looks at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards held at Prudential Center on Sunday evening (August 28) in Newark, New Jersey.
The friends and Descendants co-stars arrived separately ahead of the annual awards show celebrating music of the past year.
Dove is actually hitting the pre-show stage for a performance, just less than a week after releasing the music video for her latest single “Breakfast.”
The actress and singer is also nominated for Best New Artist and is set to take the stage to present.
Sofia has been having a major moment the last few weeks after the release of her new movie Purple Hearts. It was just recently announced that it nabbed a spot in the Top 10 most popular films on Netflix!

The 26-year-old actress and singer debuted the new visual on Tuesday (August 23), and swapped out gender norms, while highlighting the societal struggles facing women.
Dove‘s video also sees the overturning of Roe v Wade in the background throughout.

Dove Cameron has released the follow-up to her smash hit song “Boyfriend.”
The 26-year-old singer and actress just dropped her new single “Breakfast” and it comes amid the rise of her previous song, which is currently at its peak of No. 16 on the Hot 100.
In the chorus of the new song, Dove sings, “I eat boys like you for breakfast / One by one, hung on my necklace / And they’ll always be mine / It makes me feel alive.”
Throughout the day on Thursday (June 23), Dove was teasing the release of the song, but had to dip out before midnight as she’s currently on a night shoot for season two of the Apple TV+ series Schmigadoon.

Dove Cameron and Issa Rae sandwich in Ashton Kutcher at the premiere of their new movie Vengeance held at the 2022 Tribeca Festival on Sunday (June 12) in New York City.
The trio were also joined by more of their co-stars J Smith-Cameron, Eli Bickel, Boyd Holbrook with wife Tatianna, and BJ Novak, who also wrote and directed the film.
BJ‘s longtime BFF Mindy Kaling also stepped out at the premiere.
Vengeance is a darkly comic thriller about Ben Manalowitz (Novak), a journalist and podcaster who travels from New York City to West Texas to investigate the death of a girl he was hooking up with. Check out the trailer right here!
