Laura Carmichael is ravishing in red at the 2014 Summer TCA Tour “Downton Abbey” Season 5 Photocall held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Tuesday evening (July 22) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 27-year-old actress was joined by her co-stars Allen Leech, Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt plus executive producer Gereth Neame, and MASTERPIECE executive producer Rebecca Eaton.
During the panel, we got a glimpse into what will come to Lady Edith in the upcoming, but still a ways away, season 5 premiere in January 2015.
She’ll be “pitied left and right, and even her own father says as much. Gregson still appears to be MIA, and as for her daughter Marigold, having her nearby and being raised by the farmer creates heartbreaking challenges. Carmichael also dismissed the rumor that Lady Rosamund (Samantha Bond) is Edith’s mom, but said she understood why fans would think so because they’re part of the ‘not-brunette gang of the Crawley family.’”
Downton Abbey Season 5 premieres on Sunday, January 4th on PBS’ Masterpiece.

“People don’t like Sansa because she is feminine. It annoys me that people only like the feminine characters when they act like male characters. And they always go on about feminism. Like, you’re rooting for the people who look like boys, who act like boys, who fight like boys. Root for the girls who wear dresses and are intellectually very strong,” she shared.
Sophie added, “That’s why she’s one of the most intelligent characters on the show I think. She adapts so well and she has this thing where she’s probably the greatest actor out of all of them. She deceives with the fa�ade of her former self and that’s what’s great. She never breaks face of this innocent na�ve girl and she’s not that.”
