Just Jared Jr is getting to know more about Miya Cech!

The teen actress is one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s new space show The Astronauts.

Miya plays Samantha ‘Samy’ Sawyer-Wei in the series, a young girl who is a part of a group of kids who are accidentally launched into space; they embark on an adventure of a lifetime in order to find their way back home

Nick fans can of course remember her from her role in season one of the limited series Are You Afraid of the Dark?, as well as Netflix’s Rim of the World and Always Be My Maybe, or even her guest arc on American Housewife.

Miya will soon star as Sammy Ko in the upcoming film Marvelous and the Black Hole, which follows a teenage delinquent (Cech) who befriends a surly magician (Rhea Perlman) who helps her navigate her inner demons and dysfunctional family with sleight of hand magic. A coming of age comedy that touches on unlikely friendships, grief, and finding hope in the darkest moments.

Kayden Grace Swan is taking over television screens in the new series The Astronauts!

The actress stars as Doria in the Nickelodeon series, which follows five kids who embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they are mistakenly launched into space.

Here’s a synopsis: The spaceship Odyssey II is set to launch to investigate a mysterious asteroid passing by Earth. When a group of kids use their parent’s security clearance to sneak onto the empty ship, the launch sequence is accidentally initiated.

Blasting off into space with no proper training, a malfunctioning onboard AI system, and their parents watching from Earth, the kids embark on a journey of survival using only their smarts and friendship as tools.

The cast of the upcoming new Nickelodeon series The Astronauts are taking fans behind-the-scenes!

Miya Cech, Ben Daon, Bryce Gheisar, Kayden Grace Swan and Keith L. Williams open up about the show and what it’s like filming when they’re “in space,” and what it takes to make that illusion.

“One of my favorite parts of working on The Astronauts is the zero G. There isn’t any gravity in space, so we get to do a lot of wire work,” Ben said. “Twenty odd feet in the air. Literally redefining ‘hanging out.’”

“It’s like having balloons under your arms, and pretty much just slow motion [movements],” Kayden added.

The show’s stunt coordinator, Rob “Sluggo” Boyce, also dished on all the wire work and stunt movements.

“The show we’re working on takes place in space, so there’s zero gravity,” he says in the video. “Through many of the episodes, they’re just hanging from the ceiling and we’re floating around, puppeteering them, getting to do what we need them to do.”

The full trailer for Nickelodeon’s upcoming series The Astronauts has finally landed!

Miya Cech, Keith L. Williams, Ben Daon, Bryce Gheisar, and Kayden Grace Swan all star in the new series, set for a one hour premiere on Friday, November 13th.

In the hour long premiere, the spacecraft Odyssey II is set to launch on a mission to retrieve a foreign object that could potentially save mankind. The plan quickly goes awry when five untrained kids use their parents’ security clearances to sneak onto the empty ship.

Soon after they board, the onboard AI system triggers the launch sequence. Unable to stop the ship from blasting off, the kids must assume their new role as astronauts and brave harrowing tasks, as their parents rush to find a way to take control of the situation.

The Astronauts is also the first co-production from Nickelodeon’s partnership with Imagine Kids+Family.

The 12-year-old Good Boys actor has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming Nickelodeon series.
