Queen Yuna Kim Leads After Stunning Short Program at Sochi Olympics

Queen of Figure Skating, Yuna Kim stuns the crowd silent up until the very end of her performance during the Figure Skating Ladies’ Short Program at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics held at Iceberg Skating Palace on Wednesday night (February 19) in Sochi, Russia.

The reigning Olympic gold medalist, who hasn’t competed in a major competition for two years, came back and claimed the top spot ahead of Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova and Carolina Kostner of Italy, who are 2nd and 3rd.

Russia’s upcoming superstar Yulia Lipnitskaya placed 5th after a fall during her triple flip.

Japan’s Mao Asada, who claimed silver at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, currently sits in 16th place after she fell on her opening jump, a triple axel.

unfortunately olympics are taking place in Russia where politics and sport are close to each other. Queen Yuna’s long program was amazing, fabulous and the most beautiful, performed very clean. But her score was only 144, sotnikova’s with mistakes in cascade is 149! It’s Russia’s olympics not of other whole world. Shame on you, judges! sotnikova is the only unworthy “olympic” champion!!

Rigged results. Even Russians can’t argue with that one. Not only was Queen Yuna’s long program far more polished and just breath-taking, Sotnikova fell. Yeah, the one who falls gets to win gold. Good one, Russia. You really showed the power of home-advantage. Even Katarina Witt tweeted, “Shame Gold Medal, Yuna Kim is a real Queen.”

Yuna was totally robbed of the gold.
The Sochi Winter Olympics – The funniest show on earth!

Ironically, Yuna’s probably saying to herself: only in Russia you make no mistake at all and all you get is a silver medal (unless you too are a Russian). South Korean Ice Queen is unique, an her silver means gold.

Yuna Kim is not only a beautiful girl but she is also the best figure skater of history. Her class is not of this world! Even before skating for the finals, she is supposed to have said said that her worst opponents would most probably not be the other skaters, but the (Russian) judges. Unfortunatelly she was right!

Yuna Kim had a crack on her left foot…she did a great job
compared to that, the Russian skater don’t have the right to win a gold medal…when she left while the reporters were asking her question…Yuna kim is the absolute queen of ice!! I wish she came back!!
The world knows who the real gold-medalist is!!! I hope she reads this..

It’s time that someone won based on a more objective points system than just reputation alone. We saw that with Kraatz and Bourne when they would always finish in 3rd because of the Russians’ reputation of being better at dancing. Yuna Kim did the easier jumps and didn’t even have the Bielmann Spin. The young girl went for it and got the medal. The blame should be on Yuna Kim herself for not being fully prepared for the Olympics and just relying on talent alone. She should have skated in the Grand Prix season and not have taken the Olympics lightly.
