Vanessa Hudgens Breaks Silence on Arizona Rock Carving Controversy

Vanessa Hudgens is finally speaking out about the incident where her and Austin Butler illegally carved their names in a rock at the Coconino National Forest last year.

“Me and my boyfriend were on a hike and then wrote our names on a rock with another rock and then people accused me of carving into this rock, but literally I took a piece of rock and wrote on the rock,” the 28-year-old Powerless star said during a visit to SiriusXM. “So, it’s the type of thing where it’s chalk, so if you rub it, it comes off.”

“I knew with the first rain it would go away. I’m such an earth person. I love Mother Nature. I love being connected in the natural environment. It was a whole situation that was really frustrating. I don’t mean to disrespect anyone or the land. It’s not like I took a key and carved it,” Vanessa continued.

“I donated a lot of money to the park to say ‘sorry for the drama it’s caused you guys,’ but like literally with the first rain, it would’ve washed off,” she added. You can listen below.

Using a device/tool that was environmentally friendly doesn’t change the fact your actions was still wrong and accountable for. It’s pretty obvious no one would /COULD vandalize private property if there wasn’t any indication of someone doing in the past. Honestly, paying the fine just isn’t enough for people who claim” they love mother nature”. People who run the resort DO their best to protect it and try to keep it in the best condition possible. I feel her sentence should have been bigger than paying a fine.

But what about people who carves trees? THAT is forever and no punishment, everyone is “ohhh so cute!”
She wrote in a stone something erasable and everyone was like OMG!! you awful human being how could you??!!
Not saying It was ok to do what she did, but it was blown up of porpotion. a lot.

I admit trees is an example of our environments natural landmark but going on someone’s private property – especially a local landmark IN ANOTHER COUNTRY to carve your name doesn’t count. It’s like saying, you can do graffiti on buildings and trees and everywhere else- especially inside someone’s home . Im sorry it just doesn’t even compare. I mean how would you feel if you trespassed the white house and wrote in big letters in black marker- trump sucks!. It’s the same thing as what Vanessa did in Arizona. Hence why she was charged and why everyone is talking about. Her actions was still wrong wither she thinks so or not. Blown out of proportion? No. cause she’s a celeb and a person with a mindset to know right from wrong. ITS common sense to know that you are allowed on the premises you shouldn’t vandalize something that is not yours. I think everyone is just shocked at what a stupid stunt she did.

As for the device she used – writing in stone doesn’t even come off. It all depends on the pressure your using to crave your name. Plus your using STONE on stone – totally different if you were using markers or a knife. So for Vanessa to think it would come off so easily- sounds she didn’t think about her actions clearly and came up with any excuse to get out of it.
