Lauren Jauregui Apologizes For Comments About Super Bowl Being a Distraction From Real Issues

Lauren Jauregui is clearing up comments she made about the Super Bowl this weekend.

The 20-year-old Fifth Harmony member wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, “#happysuperbowlsunday #lol #reality #ignoranceisbliss go ahead and stay distracted.”

Lauren later wrote an explanation for what she said.

“My comment was aimed at the ability for our entire conversations to be taken over by a sporting event but I also understand how that was misinterpreted as a direct on something that brings unity and peace of mind to people,” Lauren wrote. “I was in no way trying to imply that escapism isn’t necessary, I’m involved in arts and I very well know the role that it has in easing hearts and while I don’t share that common interest with sports, it isn’t my place to discredit the unity it does promote.”

She added, “So I apologize for the amount of people that I offended, I’m incredibly sad evrey for this country and I get too passionate sometimes.”
