Chlo Grace Moretz Responds to 'Red Shoes' Marketing Backlash
Actress Chlo Grace Moretz has been outspoken about her feminism and the necessity for female empowerment, so many fans were surprised at a tone-deaf marketing move for her new film, Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarves.
A new advertisement at Cannes depicts a thin Snow White and a heavier one, with the words: “What if Snow White was no longer beautiful and the 7 Dwarfs not so short?”
The problem, many online users have pointed out, is that being thinner does not equate to being better or more beautiful.

Chlo, 20, has taken to Twitter to address the backlash.
“I have now fully reviewed the mkting for Red Shoes, I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team,” she wrote.
“Pls know I have let the producers of the film know. I lent my voice to a beautiful script that I hope you will all see in its entirety. The actual story is powerful for young women and resonated with me, I am sorry for the offense caused that was behind my creative control.”
Hopefully it’s just a marketing mistake and the actual film is as empowering as it has been billed!
