Shannon Purser Dishes On Her New NBC Show 'Rise': 'It's Not Like Glee'

Just last week, it was revealed that Shannon Purser had joined Auli’i Cravalho in NBC’s Rise, and now she’s talking all about it!

Speaking with TVLine at the 2017 Emmy Awards last night, Shannon opened up about the feel of the show, which isn’t at all like Glee.

“I like to think of it as kind of like a Friday Night Lights with music,” Shannon says.

She continues, “It’s not like Glee in the sense that people burst into song. [When they do], it’s all within the confines of the musical that they’re putting on in high school.”

Shannon will also be singing in the show, too: “I get to sing, which I’ve been doing since I was little, so I’m excited about that.”
