This comes one day after his highly-anticipated Game of Thrones cameo aired during the season 7 premiere. It was met with some criticism by GoT fans, and that could have been the catalyst for Ed getting rid of his account.

Don’t worry though, Ed‘s still on Instagram and just posted a cute photo with girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, writing, “Climbing mountains in Peru”

Ed Sheeran Wasn't Comparing Himself To Adele, He Was Aiming For Her Success

Ed Sheeran Wasn't Comparing Himself To Adele, He Was Aiming For Her Success

Ed Sheeran has learned his lesson – don’t mention Adele in any of his interviews.

Earlier this year, the “Galway Girl” singer spoke about the Grammy-winning artist in an interview with GQ, saying that she was the “only person I need to sell more records than.”

The quote however, was taken in the wrong way, and fans all over were calling him out over it.

“I feel like me saying this, a lot of people were like, ‘That’s such an arrogant thing to say,’” Ed tries to clarify in a new interview with Megyn Kelly, which will air this weekend.

He adds, “I think you need to choose someone that’s at the top of their game. Like, I probably won’t sell 20 million records. And I probably won’t ever be as big as Adele. But if you don’t aim for the top of the mountain, how are you ever gonna get halfway?”

“The problem is, my point never comes across with that. That quote is now just ‘I want to be bigger than Adele.’ The word Adele is just something that no one should f— with, basically.

Ed adds, “If you put that in any sentence, prepare to be shut down.”

Ed Sheeran Stuns Fans With 'Supermarket Flowers' Performance on 'Today' (Video)

Ed Sheeran stunned almost 12,000 fans silent with his performances on Today at Rockefeller Center in New York City on Thursday (July 6).

The multi-talented musician performed five of his hit songs — “Shape of You,” “Galway Girl,” “Castle on the Hill,” “Thinking Out Loud” and “Supermarket Flowers.”

During his appearance, Ed also opened up about all the stories about him quitting Twitter.

“It’s not like I quit it,” Ed clarified once more. “I still post to Instagram and it goes to Twitter.”

The only change he’s actually made to his social media game is not reading comments: “It’s just foolish to do, when there’s so much love out in the world, to look at the negative stuff. I’m just choosing not to read it.”

Check out all his performances below!

Ed Sheeran Clarifies Claims That He's Leaving Social Media

Ed Sheeran Clarifies Claims That He's Leaving Social Media

Remember yesterday when everyone thought Ed Sheeran was quitting Twitter because he was fed up with Internet bullies?

The “Castle on the Hill” crooner was especially fed up with users who had allegedly attacked him because they thought he was referring to Lady Gaga in an interview, though he says he definitely wasn’t. (See how Gaga responded here.)

Anyways, Ed says he didn’t actually mean he was quitting the social media site for good.

Q magazine is out now,” Ed shared on Instagram on Wednesday (July 5) along with a photo of himself tuning his guitar. “Also loads of Hoo-har about me quitting stuff. I haven’t quit anything, I’m just not reading anything, except Harry Potter. Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th yo.”

We’re glad you’re still online, Ed!

Lady Gaga Posts Supportive Instagram After Ed Sheeran Quits Twitter: 'I LOVE ED'

Lady Gaga Posts Supportive Instagram After Ed Sheeran Quits Twitter: 'I LOVE ED'

Singer Ed Sheeran recently quit Twitter after he couldn’t handle all of the hate and negativity constantly getting him down, and Lady Gaga is coming to his defense on Instagram.

Ed cited Lady Gaga‘s fan base, who misconstrued a comment he made in an interview, as one example of the “hate,” and Gaga is not at all here for it.

“What an incredible talented artist,” she captioned a selfie of the two of them posing together, “I LOVE ED @teddysphotos deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity.”

We’re so glad that rather than feeding the trolls, Gaga is speaking out to her fans, encouraging them to be kinder and warmer to other musicians. Being a fan does not have to mean tearing others down in the process.

Ed Sheeran is no longer putting up with Internet trolls.

The 26-year-old singer has decided to quit Twitter after putting up with mean comments for too long.

“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it,” Ed told The Sun. “I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things.”

Ed went on to say that the mean comments that people write really get him down and no longer wants to deal with that.

“One comment ruins your day,” he shared. “The head f— for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Ed also shared that a recent interview he gave where he talked about Lady Gaga was taken the wrong way and her fans attacked him.

Lady Gaga’s fan base read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f—ing hate,” Ed said. “And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all.”

Just because Ed might be off Twitter doesn’t mean he’s given up all social medias. You can still get your dose of Ed on his Instagram!

Two of Ed Sheeran's Most Popular Songs Get Very Different Reactions

Two of Ed Sheeran's Most Popular Songs Get Very Different Reactions

We all have our favorite Ed Sheeran songs (ours is actually “Tenerife Sea”), but two of his most popular ones — “Thinking Out Loud” and “Galway Girl” — get the most reactions out of fans.

Two different reactions, that is.

“‘Thinking Out Loud’ is the song, worldwide, that if I didn’t play, people would be like, ‘That was weird!’,” Ed shared in a recent interview with EW.

He adds, “But as long as people react well to a song, I don’t care how many times I play it. I’m always going to be in love with it.”

While people will never not be in love with “Thinking Out Loud”, “Galway Girl” gets an opposite reaction.

“[It's] is a weird one; I’ve never put out a song before that’s polarized people so much,” Ed says. “People really, really hate it!”

“It, like, offends them that the song exists. But I do think, in five or 10 years, those same people will be dancing to it on St. Patrick’s Day, drunk at the bar.”
