Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are mourning the loss of their beloved dog Ira.
The couple took to Instagram on Tuesday (June 12) to announce that they had to say goodbye to their beloved German Shepard.
“At 12:11 PM PST this beautiful girl took her last breath. Quietly cancer had filled this amazing girl of mine and there was nothing any of us could do. I’ve never known a more incredible animal. A soul that spoke 1,000 languages. Kid, I will miss you and anyone that ever got to know you will miss you,” Ian captioned the below post of Ira.
Ian continued: “Thank you for loving me like I’ve never known. I know you’re here, your energy is here with us- I saw you playing with Neech this morning. I love you kiddo. Love, Dad.”

Ian Somerhalder and others were spotted stepping out amid the Blood Lust Convention on Sunday (April 29) in Paris, France.
Ian was joined by Candice King, Nathaniel Buzolic, Chase Coleman, and Riley Voelkel. Some of the other cast members in town who are not pictured include Paul Wesley and Daniel Gillies.
Ian will be back to his vampire roots with a new vampire series on Netflix, which was just announced!

Ian and Nikki got married on April 26, 2015 and are parents to a nine-month-old daughter named Bodhi.
Ian Somerhalder is sticking with the whole vampire thing after signing on for Netflix’s V-Wars.
According to THR, the former Vampire Diaries actor will star as Dr. Luther Swann, who enters a world of horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne, into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans.
As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these vampires. Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.
Netflix has picked up the series for 10 episodes.

The 29-year-old actress’ husband Ian Somerhalder took to his Instagram to praise his wife on how she juggles everything from being a mom to waking up early and doing yoga.
“So impressed with this woman getting up before the sun comes up to work on her favorite sport even with our little one keeping you up all night in our bed. I’ve never seen anything like it. The strength and endurance you have goes beyond what any man could ever understand. You amaze me my beautiful wife. Ps thanks for teaching me a few moves;). I’ll be good enough to fly you soon… love, your husband,” he wrote.
Ian and Nikki are the parents to six month old Bodhi Soleil.

The 29-year-old actress presented the new collection with Dell, which is made from recycled tech parts, at CES on Tuesday (January 9) in Las Vegas.
Ian wrote a gushing message about Nikki right before she walked on stage for the event.
“Right this second about to watch @nikkireed walk on stage and announce this huge and amazing collaboration with @bayouwithlove & @dell using recycled gold from recycled motherboards to create a beautiful line of jewelry to last and be passed down to other generations,” Ian wrote on his Instagram page. “Showing us all that we don’t need to mine for gold in destructive ways when companies like Bayou and Dell reuse and repurpose through innovation, creating a circular economy.”
“This is called leadership in sustainability and I’m so freaking proud of my wife, @bayouwithlove and @dell for the endless mornings, noons and nights of design, phone calls, brainstorming sessions and the hard work.
