Jesse McCartney makes us swoon in this brand new outdoors-y feature for the latest issue of Flaunt magazine.
The 28-year-old actor and singer opened up to the glossy about his career, touring with the Backstreet Boys, and more. Check it:
On his secret to avoiding scandal: “Nobody’s perfect, and I know looking back I’ve had some moments too. We all have. It’s a part of growing up. For me though, I think one of the secrets is just always having a team around me that isn’t afraid to tell me ‘No.’”
On the Backstreet Boys: “I’ve toured with the guys twice now and they were quite different each time. They were always very friendly, but 10 years ago, when we toured Europe, some of them were still single or had new girlfriends. It was a lot more of a party then. The last tour we did together here in the States was totally different. A lot of them were now married with kids or had serious girlfriends. Rather than partying on the bus, they were now changing diapers on the bus. It was a lot more low key the second time around, but it was amazing each time.”
On acting and theater: “Having an acting sensibility helps greatly when performing on stage because it helps you convey what emotion you’re trying to get across. There are a lot of nuanced moments in a performance that are all enhanced by having a bit of an acting background. While they’re made to look seamless on stage, often times some of the staging has been thought out in advance – like an actor would do for his performance. After that I go with the moment so it is honest and fresh.”
The two singers repped Starkey Hearing Foundation as they carried the torch towards the flames towards the stadium where the Summer Games will be held.
Jessica began her route on Sunset Blvd. in Silverlake and continued for a half mile with her team, captained by Johanna Schoeneck. Jessica was also joined by Special Olympics Southern California Athlete and Global Messenger Dustin Plunkett.
Starkey Hearing Foundation is the official Healthy Hearing partner of the Special Olympics Summer Games and will provide hearing screenings and free hearing aids to all Special Olympics athletes in need during the games.

Jesse McCartney heads back to his car after doing a little shopping at Marc Jacobs in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (May 13).
The 28-year-old actor/singer recently spoke with EW about his friendships with the cast of Young & Hungry.
“Jonathan [Sadowski] and I are like brothers in real life. He’s literally my next-door neighbor, and we’ve been friends in real life for a really long time—since Chernobyl Diaries a few years ago. And Emily [Osment] I worked with when she was like 12, back in the Hannah Montana days,” Jesse shared.
He continued, “We all have a sort of history together. And I think it really comes across on screen. On set, there’s always some sort of prank happening. Jonathan came up and pantsed me one time on set in the middle of rehearsal. We were all in pajamas that morning. It was really early. It’s just a really lighthearted, fun set. Everyone gets along, and it really makes for having a good time at work.”
In “Young & First Time”, Gabi is excited by an upcoming visit from Cooper, especially since they’re about to take their relationship to the next level. But then Cooper accidentally finds out more than he should about the last person Gabi was with.
Meanwhile, Josh (Jonathan Sadowski) is furious to find out that Yolanda (Kym Whitley) is spending time with her ex-husband, Coleman.
“Young & First Time” airs TONIGHT, Wednesday, April 22nd @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC Family.

The 27-year-old music maker opened up about his music, writing, and more. Check it:
On his newest album: “‘In Technicolor’ is a collection of songs that has a modern take on retro pop. Produced mainly by The Elev3n, together we decided to make something that felt fresh but still familiar. I was on a daily diet of Prince, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson and Kool and the Gang, artists that made a big impact on me musically. I’d say this album is my proudest musical achievement.”
On his personal favorite on the album: “I think ‘The Other Guy’ is one of my personal favorites. A song that was written about a love triangle, ‘The Other Guy’ definitely showcases what I can do vocally and says something that most have never heard from a male’s perspective before.”
On his future projects: “I’m currently playing the role of Cooper Finley on Season 2 of ABC Family’s Young and Hungry which will be premiering at the end of this month. And come April, I’ll be recording the voice of Theodore in the 4th installment of Alvin and the Chipmunks. As far as collaborations, if I could work with anyone, dead or alive, it would have to be Elvis. After all, he started all this ;)”
