Kira Kosarin is setting a major goal for herself – to be the youngest to direct an episode for Nickelodeon.
The 21-year-old actress and singer teamed up with some friends to direct and co-produce an episode of new series, The Lerners, and after that experience, is ready for more.
“Now that I’ve got an episode under my belt, I’m manifesting one of my biggest dreams. Does anyone know the youngest person to ever direct an episode of a @Nickelodeon show?” she queried on her Twitter. “I’m trying to break the record… 👀.”
She just might, too! Nathan Kress got behind the camera on Game Shakers when he was 24, and the second youngest was Fred Savage when he directed a handful of episodes of Unfabulous in 2004.

On treating The Thundermans like film school: “When I was 16, I was accepted to Stanford to study psychology, but shortly thereafter Thundermans got unexpectedly extended for more seasons, and I ended up staying in LA to finish the show’s run. I decided that if I was going to stay in LA keep working, I was going to treat my set like a university, and spend every free moment using the resources around me to learn the ins and outs of television production. I got to learn the sitcom world as an actor first, then behind the scenes as I got to shadow some incredible directors, and learn from my coworkers and superiors alike. I’m now using that knowledge to direct; one of my biggest goals in the next couple years is to direct an episode of a sitcom for Nickelodeon, and share with the next generation of young actors the things I wish I knew when I started.”
On joining Light as a Feather: “[It] was a major departure from the projects I’ve worked on in the past, and diving into that world was really exciting and gratifying. After booking the role of Nadia I went to watch Season 1 for research, but after a few episodes I was genuinely hooked as a fan. Getting to work on Season 2 after getting so invested in the storyline was a very cool, unique experience for me.”
On fans’ reactions to her debut album: “The response has been amazing, and so much more than I could’ve hoped for! Especially with Vinyl… I wrote that song when I was 16 and could never have imagined that so many people would feel a connection to it all this time later.”

It started when one user tweeted, “I want a movie where @Kat_McNamara and @kirakosarin solve an unsolvable crime with the help of the local college professor @ToksOlagundoye and the villain is Kate McKinnon.”
Kira replied to the tweet, writing, “I second this.”

Kira Kosarin is prioritizing family time!
The 21-year-old actress and singer stepped out with her dad, Danny Kosarin, for a shopping trip on Friday (May 24) in Studio City, California.
Kira looked casual and comfortable in a light-colored, striped tank top and high-waisted jeans. She paired the look with plain white sneakers and an oversize black bag.
The Light as a Feather star wore her long, wavy hair down and wore a pair of large hoop earrings.
Kira dropped her debut album, Off Brand, last month.
“I’m serious about what I do but for the love of everything. Don’t take this shit too seriously,” she said of the album. “Blast it, and dance however your soul tells you too. Find the stories you relate to and find solace in company. Discover lyrics that inspire your own art, poetry, thought.”

The two stars snapped a few pics together after a fan fueled a rumor that Liana stalked fans who wrote “Light as a Feather on Hulu”.
The fan tweeted: “Apparently Liana Liberato stalks the tweets that say ‘Light as a Feather on Hulu’ so I just wanna say: IF YOU’RE READING THIS, TAKE A PICTURE WITH KIRA.”
And that fan’s wish was granted!
