Simone Biles wants foster kids to know that they can do anything they set their minds to!
The 19-year-old Olympic gold medalist, who was in foster care before being adopted by her grandparents, hopes she can inspire other kids in the same situation.
“I know firsthand what it’s like to be in foster care — struggles and all…I came from a foster home and went on to achieve everything I’ve achieved,” she told People.
Simone added, “I’m just hoping it can inspire other foster kids to never give up and to always pursue your dreams. And to play sports and get good sleep! My message is: There are no limits.”
She also announced that she’s partnering up Mattress Firm Foster Kids, which donates items like clothes and school supplies to foster children and their families.
We love that Simone is helping out such an important cause!
2016 is coming to a close, and with that comes list after list of bests —- the best actors, the best singers, the best emerging talent of the year.
But, let’s face it, there have been some seriously weird/sad/random moments moments that had they not existed, the celebrity entertainment world would definitely be a better place.
The following sucks irrefutably fall in to 2016’s con column.
Here are a smattering of this year’s happenings that we most wish we could take back:
1. The bitterness that followed Fifth Harmony losing Camila Cabello
Feelings were hurt all around when Camila Cabello decided to leave Fifth Harmony, but the public accusations that followed had Harmonizers taking sides. Understandably disappointed Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane and Normani Kordei put out a public statement before Camila had the chance to make the announcement herself. Camila said she was shocked at the move and released her own statement, which gave a brief version of her side of the story… and it kept going. The 5H split wasn’t totally shocking — after all, both Camila and Lauren were both publicly working on side projects — but we hope that time can heal the wounds between these former besties.
2. Austin & Ally ending
January 10 marked a rocky start to the New Year with everyone’s favorite Disney Channel coupleAustin & Ally — aka Laura Marano and Ross Lynch — gracing our screens one last time. The show’s exit left a gaping void in our lives that has yet to be filled by any amount of ice-cream or Hannah Montana reruns.

Simone Biles just had the time of her life in Belize over the holiday season — and has shared all the pics on her Instagram to prove it!
The Greatest Gymnast of all Time shared a handful of snaps on her account while relaxing and touring her second home country with her family.
While there, Simone had time to speak at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts to fans and athletes about going after their dreams.
“I would just say always dream big because whenever I was little, even though I did wanted to go to the Olympics, I didn’t think it was a possibility because there are so many people competing in the country for that same reason,” she shared. “But I always work towards it and I think that if you dream big, you can achieve anything.”
During her downtime, Simone also fired back at some online body shamers, in the best way possible. Check out her tweet below!

This year, everyone learned that Simone Biles was the greatest gymnast of all time.
So, it comes as no surprised that she was named ESPN’s Woman of the Year — especially after her showstopping routines at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
Simone didn’t just win gold at the bi-annual games. She won EVERY gold (at least, almost).
“Biles, 19, came into the Olympics not simply a favorite but a legend,” the mag writes in their piece on her. “Her exceptionalism as rousing as a drum line, an athlete soaring so far above her peers she may as well have been eyeing them from space.”

Simone Biles just isn’t slowing down!
The Olympic gymnast is confirming that you’ll see her trying out for the 2020 Olympic Team.
“I’ll take some time off first but then I’ll get back at it and try for 2020,” Simone shares with USA TODAY Sports. “I’ll take maybe a year off because there’s no way I can do everything that I’m doing as well as commit to training 100 percent.”
She’ll be 23 when the games come.
“I think anyone can get better as long as you put your mind to it,” Simone adds. “You set new goals. So I don’t know if I can but I would hope I can.”
Simone is also pictured below with Kat Graham at The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Breakfast and at Catch LA, meeting up with swimmer Conor Dwyer for dinner.
FYI: Simone is wearing a Marienbad suit with Badgley Mischka shoes.
Simone Biles may have a major crush on Zac Efron…but they’re seriously turning into BFF goals for us!
The two met over the summer when he flew to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Summer Olympics, and met Simone and the rest of the Final Five gymnastics team.
It seems their friendship is still going on (which we love) because Simone just shared the gift — a Pennyboard! — she got from him on Snapchat!
“Guess who?” Simone captioned the photo on her handle. “Z a c e f r o n.”

We don’t know about you, but we would not complain about seeing Simone Biles in the 2040 Olympics!
In a new interview, the Olympic gold medalist (the most decorated female gymnast of all time, btw) opened up about competing in the 2010 games in Tokyo, Japan.
“Well, right now, yes, ’cause, like, you’re on an Olympic high,” she shared.
Simone adds, “You just– I feel like I could go to, like, 2040.”
2040!? That would make Simone 43-years-old when those games came!
BUT, she still wouldn’t be the oldest Olympian who’s ever competed. Check out the list of older Olympians:
- Oscar Swahn, from Sweden, was 72 when he went to the 1920 Olympics
- Arthur von Pongracz of Austria was 72 when he competed in the 1936 Olympics
- Hiroshi Hoketsu, an equestrian rider, was the oldest Olympic competitor at the London games in 2012, at 71
- British rider Lorna Johnstone was 70 at the 1972 Olympic Games
- Louis, Count du Douet de Graville, 69, competed in Equestrian at the 1900 Olympics
- Lida Peyton “Eliza” Pollock, from the USA, was 63 when she participated in the archery competition during the 1904 games in St. Louis, Missouri
- Oksana Chusovitina, a 41-year-old gymnast who competed in 2016 Rio Olympics this past summer
