Stephen Amell chats with the audience while attending an AOL Build Series event on Wednesday (May 25) in New York City.
The Arrow star recently talked about his hopes for season five of the hit CW show.
“When we started Arrow, we were the superpower-less superhero show,” Stephen told EW. “Because of our success and because of opportunities that The CW has had, we’ve had to break away from that original modus operandi a little bit, because we were introducing Barry Allen, and in subsequent seasons, we’ve shepherded some of the Legends of Tomorrow onto their own show.”
He added, “Even though Supergirl is joining the ranks, there’s no new person or new show to introduce this year, and I think as a result of that, we need to get back to focusing more on some of the core elements that used to define Arrow. To me, that’s hand-to-hand combat, no superpowers, and dealing with the job of cleaning up Star City.”

There were lots of celebs in attendance at the star-studded event!
“I’m so happy for Colton,” Stephen said in an interview with E! News. “A fan three or four months ago at a Comic-Con convention basically tried to bait me into outing him. I got in touch with [Colton] and was like, ‘Hey, man, this happened [and] I didn’t know what to say. I simply deflected and we moved on.’…He emailed me back and said, ‘You know, I really appreciate that and I’ve recently made some decisions over the past few months and I’m excited about what’s in the future.’ I’m excited for him, too.”
Colton has been open with his struggle with anxiety and how it has affected his work in the past.
“I’ve seen him struggle with anxiety and that’s why he, well certainly one of the reasons why, he left Teen Wolf and he left Arrow. When he came back to Arrow this year simply for an episode, it was such a different version of Colton. He and I bonded more. I’m very very happy for him,” Stephen added.
“He sent me a very funny text message yesterday for National Send a Nude day…He enjoyed it and so did I,” Stephen continued. “It might have been Colton and I engaged in some after hours Arrow cave activity with our heads Photoshopped on other bodies. I’ll leave it at that.”

The 35-year-old actor recently told Loaded that he thinks a crossover between Supergirl and his series Arrow is likely to happen.
“Do bears ‘you know what’ in the woods? I think that it’s highly likely that, if you have four DC superhero properties on one network, that that is an opportunity that might not ever exist again, and certainly hasn’t ever existed in the history of television,” Stephen said. “So I expect them to do something.”
