The 15-year-old singer and model is on the May 2016 cover of Teen Vogue and opened up about how she created herself after “Whip My Hair” came out.
“After ‘Whip My Hair’ and all the publicity, after going on tour in the U.K., after saying no to the Annie film, all of this crap was going on in my life, and I had to sit down and say, ‘Who are you? On a real note. Are you this or this?’” she shared.
Willow added, “During that time of figuring it out, I was lost and super insecure. But then I stopped trying to find myself in these other inanimate objects, people, and ideas. I realized it isn’t about finding yourself—it’s about creating yourself.”

Willow Smith is ready for her close-up on the gorgeous new May 2016 cover of Teen Vogue.
The 15-year-old singer and model opened up to the glossy about her brother Jaden, her goals in life, and more. Check it:
On Jaden: “We’re like binary stars, like two parts of one thing. I know what he’s thinking at all times. And he knows what I’m thinking. We’re not identical twins, but it feels like that in a lot of ways.”
On if and when she felt less empowered: “Yes. One hundred percent. After ‘Whip My Hair’ and all the publicity, after going on tour in the U.K., after saying no to the Annie film, all of this crap was going on in my life, and I had to sit down and say, ‘Who are you? On a real note. Are you this or this?’ During that time of figuring it out, I was lost and super insecure. But then I stopped trying to find myself in these other inanimate objects, people, and ideas. I realized it isn’t about finding yourself—it’s about creating yourself.”
On working with Chanel: “Being a young African-American woman with dreads, it blows my mind that I’m a Chanel ambassador. Like, how am I a Chanel ambassador? It is so beautiful. I’m coming into a new part of my life that is completely unknown, and I’m jumping right in. All I can do from here is continue to shift paradigms and continue to push the envelope further and further. But I am doing it every day just by being myself.”

W Magazine Cover Girls Sing David Bowie’s “Changes”
Zendaya goes for a platinum blonde look in this inside shot from the April 2016 issue of W magazine.
The 19-year-old actress shares the cover with Kiernan Shipka and Willow Smith, and all opened up about fashion, film and more. Check it:
Zendaya on her special-edition Barbie: “After my Oscar moment, Mattel contacted us. They specifically wanted to make a Barbie that looked like me, in my exact outfit from the Oscars. I was so excited that Barbie wanted to diversify their brand. Now all little girls can have a Barbie that looks like them. My Barbie is in a box. I never let anyone touch her.”
Kiernan on Mad Men: “Mad Men introduced me to the power of fashion. I realized that style could tell a story. In the last season, Sally wants to impress a boy, so she dresses up. In the scene, I had to smoke a cigarette—and I’m not a pro in the slightest. They used these herbal cigarettes, and during the first take, I smoked it backwards.”
Willow on her fashion idol: “My mom. When she was on tour with Ozzfest, she was very raunchy. I loved watching her onstage. I think the first song that ever made an impression on me was my mom performing ‘Bleed All Over Me.’ I would sing it over and over.”
