Mirai Nagasu Trades Triple For Double; Finishes Sixth
Mirai Nagasu shows off her spin as she competes in the Ladies Short Program Figure Skating on day 12 of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics at Pacific Coliseum on Tuesday afternoon (February 23) in Vancouver.
The 16-year-old California native, who skated to “Pirates of the Caribbean” which is one of her favorite movies, was bothered by a nosebleed mid-skate. Mirai shared, “I’ve been having nose bleeds here frequently,” she said. “I think it is a little bit drier than California, so I’ve been putting saline nose spray in my nose.
Mirai was also planning a triple Lutz-triple toe, but traded it in for a double-toe. “The landing was a little funky so I think I made the right choice. I’m still in the mix, and I’m happy at my first Olympics I didn’t fall yet,” she said.
Mirai, Rachael Flatt and Canadian Joannie Rochette will perform a Free Skate on Thursday, February 25 @ 5PM PT.
