Figure Skater Jeremy Abbott Completes Competition Career with Flawless Free Skate; Earns Team USA Three Spots for Next Worlds

JJJ is really going to miss seeing Jeremy Abbott on the competition rink next season.

The 28-year-old figure skater just completed his last competition ever during the 2014 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan on Friday night (March 28) — and it was completely flawless!

Jeremy earned a personal best for his Muse program earning 166.68, totaling 246.35 for a 5th place finish! The placement, plus Max Aaron‘s finish in 8th, gives Team USA three spots at next year’s championship — something they’ve been trying to get back since 2011.

“I have so many emotions going through my head. I’m happy with how I skated and that was exactly what I wanted to do here,” Jeremy shared afterwards. “That’s what I’ve been training for. That’s the best I’ve ever skated that program in competition. I’m so proud and honored to do it in Japan. I had such a warm welcome.”

Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner were rooting for Jeremy from the sidelines, too.

“Way to go @jeremyabbottpcf!!! So happy for you #flawless #worlds2014,” Gracie tweeted.
