Lucy Hale Opens Up About Cutting Back on Social Media: 'It Was Affecting My Happiness'

Lucy Hale wears a chic pink jacket while out and about in Los Angeles on Tuesday (June 19).

The 29-year-old actress picked up a cool drink to go from one of her go-to places before heading out on some errands.

Speaking with Haute Living in her gorgeous cover story, Lucy opened up about limiting the amount of time she spends on social media and living life on her own terms.

“Fame and this preconceived notion of what my lifestyle is, it isn’t real,” she shared. “It’s so artificial, so fake, and it could go away. It’s not real, and that’s what I’ve had to learn. Yes, I’m blessed: I have a house, a job, notoriety and people recognize me, and that’s what so many people would ask for.”

“That’s part of me, but not the whole picture,” Lucy added. “I have to find things that normalize me and keep me down-to-earth.”

Lucy‘s relationship with social media, while still there, isn’t taking over her whole life anymore.

“It’s almost like a disease,” she says. “We’re all so addicted to it, and to what other people are saying. Honestly, I know it sounds cheesy to say that social media was affecting my happiness, but it really was.”

“It was important for me to disconnect from that, to put down my phone occasionally and live the life around me.”
