JoJo Siwa Says 'Dancing With The Stars' Is Her Transition Out of Child Stardom

JoJo Siwa is opening up about growing up from being a child star.

The 18-year-old entertainer is currently competing on Dancing With The Stars, making history as the first same-sex couple, along with Jenna Johnson.

In a new interview, JoJo is crediting her competing on the show as being her transition from child stardom.

See what she said inside…

“People my whole life [have] been waiting for me to have my, like, ‘child star breakout go-crazy moment.’ … A lot of times, they go crazy to phase out of that time [and] that phase of life,” JoJo said, via Us Weekly magazine. “But for me, I feel like this is my transition. And I feel like it’s such a good, wholesome, right way of transitioning out of being a child star. And it feels so good to grow every single day and learn new things about myself every single day.”

On this week’s DWTS, where she was in the bottom two, judge Carrie Ann Inaba compared JoJo on the show to when Zendaya competed.

“That was amazing,” Jenna said about the comparison. “That was, I think, such a big compliment [because] Zendaya, I think, flourished on the show and then became who she is now, [which is] a freaking icon.”

If you missed it, JoJo hasn’t been rocking her signature bow and ponytail on DWTS, which is part of her transitioning from the child star version of herself. She said that her bows are on a “long vacation.”
