Another 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Character Came Out as LGBTQ+ In Season 3 Finale!

Big Red came out!!

Played by Larry Saperstein, Big Red finally made an appearance this season in the finale, and he had a coming out scene of his own!

Big Red showed up for his best friend’s birthday and to see his girlfriend Ashlyn.

During the Frozen performance, the two met up backstage to talk, with Red saying how the past couple weeks have really confirmed for him that she is the one.

Before he said that though, Ashlyn said that whatever he was about to say, she probably feels the same way, likely thinking he was going to break up with her or something.

However, towards the end of the episode when the Wildcats were shown the trailer for the documentary, Big Red shows up on screen on says, “I’m Big Red, I’m Ashlyn’s boyfriend, and I’m bi.”

His friends looked quite shocked at his surprise announcement, with Ricky even turning back to look at Ashlyn. She gave a little acknowledgement and Ricky said, “Good for him.”

If you didn’t know, Larry (who plays Big Red) is also bisexual in real life – he came out during Pride Month in 2021.
