Congratulations to Alex Newell!!!

The 30-year-old former Glee star and current Shucked star just won their first Tony award at the 2023 Tony Awards held at United Palace Theater on Sunday (June 11) in New York City.

Alex, who was also a first time nominee, picked up the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for their role of Lulu in the new musical Shucked.

Not only did they win, but they are also making history for being the first openly Non-Binary actor to win a Tony Award!!

This is Alex‘s fourth Broadway show, after making their debut in the Once On This Island revival back in 2017.

Alex is the third Glee actor to win a Tony award after being on the show, following Ali Stroker and Jenna Ushkowitz.
