Meet 'The Angry Black Girl & Her Monster' Breakout Amani Summer (Exclusive)

Amani Summer makes her feature film debut in the horror film The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster!

The young actress plays Jade in the film, the younger sister to star Laya DeLeon Hayes‘ Vicaria.

In the film from writer/director Bomani J Story, Vicaria is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life.

The movie premiered in theaters earlier this month and is currently available on digital. Since it’s release, the film has been heavily liked by critics and audiences alike, becoming Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 87% score from both critics and audiences.

Anthony Whyte from The Movie Blog even praises Amani‘s performance, saying, “Notably, Amani Summer steals the show with her exceptional acting. She is the little sister that you love to hate as she just doesn’t listen! She’s instantly relatable to anybody with a younger sibling and the rage is real. There were multiple scenes in the movie where I just felt my blood pressure rising because she wouldn’t do what Vicaria told her to do.”

• 1. I am an only child, but I have two Godbrothers.
• 2. My favorite colors are pink, purple, and gold.
• 3. I love to hula hoop while watching tv.
• 4. I am a children’s book author. My book “Addy You Are a Fish” will be out really soon!
• 5. I enjoy cooking. I usually cook on Saturdays when we have a relaxing day.
• 6. My favorite food is pasta! I will eat pasta every day if my mom lets me.
• 7. Dancing is one of my favorite things to do. I take hip-hop, jazz, and lyrical dance classes. I am always dancing everywhere I go. I love to choreograph dances. I help my mom with the choreography for the praise dance ministry at our church.
• 8. When I am not acting or dancing, I am creating music. I enjoy writing songs. I have a writer that helps me make my words flow better. The first song I wrote is “Google Slide.” You can check it out on my YouTube channel.
• 9. My grandad taught me how to drive a tractor.
• 10. I love helping others. Several times throughout the year, I donate to a cause that I am passionate about. I am very passionate about older people, animals, and children.
