Viral TikTok Song 'If I Were a Fish' Is Being Turned Into a Picture Book!

corook and Olivia Barton‘s viral song “If I Were a Fish” is taking on another life!

The two singer-songwriters shared the song earlier this year and it went viral across TikTok as a self-love anthem and being proud of what makes you different.

“I was having a very emotional day, feeling insecure and out of place. So I cried to Olivia and after feeling through it, we wrote this song in 10 minutes to remember the joy in being different 🐸 happy Tuesday,” corook, aka Corinne Savage, captioned the original video.

Now, the couple is turning the special song into a picture book, which will be released later this year through Feiwel & Friends.

“We are beyond excited about this book. It’s a complete dream come true. Our hope is for this book to be healing for young people and anyone connected to their inner child,” corook and Olivia shared in a joint statement. “We’re so grateful to Macmillan and Mike Curato for bringing our song to life in this way, and can’t wait to see everyone reading and singing along!”

Inspired by their song, the “If I Were A Fish” book will be illustrated by Mike Curato, and though it’s a little “sweet and silly,” bears the same message of the song and is for “everyone who’s ever had to navigate the highs and lows of the internet.”

The song started after corook received many negative comments on a video they posted. The couple wrote the song together, sharing it followers.

Since, it has garnered over 18.7 million views and there have been nearly 25k videos posted to TikTok using the sound, including a couple of dance videos from Cost n’ Mayor and a cover by Jessie‘s Kevin Chamberlin.
