Director Sammi Cohen revealed to People that they actually had Sunny‘s real life bat mitzvah shortly before starting to film the new Netflix movie.

“What’s really funny is right before we started prepping for the film, Sunny had her actual bat mitzvah,” Sammi said. “So I went to that service, and we got to do the real-life bat mitzvah and then left to make the movie. It was a really fun life movie moment.”

The directed add that the real celebration “felt equally as fun as the parties you see [in the film].”

“It was really, really fun. And it was, again, it was just such a perfect moment of life meets movie. It was just magical.”

You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah also just debuted on Netflix’s Top 10 most streamed movies in English of the last week.

The comedy came in at No 3 on the weekly list in it’s first week, after only three full days of being available. It pulled in 21.3 million hours viewed, with 12.3 million views.

Speaking of the Sandlers and Netflix, Sunny will join her dad Adam Sandler, mom Jackie and sister Sadie in the upcoming animated flick Leo. Check out the trailer!
