Garrett Clayton Recalls 'Teen Beach Movie' Auditions & All the Partying They Did While Filming

Garrett Clayton is looking back at his time working on the Teen Beach Movies!

The 32-year-old actor played Tanner in both Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach Movie 2, which aired as Disney Channel Original Movies in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

Garrett appears on the new episode of fellow Disney Channel alums Christy Carlson Romano and Anneliese Van Der Pol‘s podcast Big Name B*tches, and he dished on the audition process and how they would party a lot during the filming time.

“Honestly, the life of it just keeps growing, which I think is crazy. It kind of takes me back a little bit,” Garrett said. “I’m grateful for it, but it’s like wild… It’s been crazy my whole life, you know, these things change your lives. But yeah, it was a great time.”

He then went on to talk about how he turned 21 while they were filming.

“I think people don’t realize how much partying we did when we were shooting that movie. Like, a crazy amount,” he dished. “We had boot camp, don’t get me wrong… But we also shot a movie in Puerto Rico and I had my 21st birthday while we were shooting the movie, so you can imagine.”

Later in the interview, he said they sabotaged him during the audition process for Teen Beach.

“They had me do nine audition songs, and they were like, ‘Oh, so we already started recording the character,’ and I was like, ‘Then why wouldn’t you, what?!’” he said. “I’m like partially, my voice is partially on the first soundtrack and then when the second one came in and I was like, ‘I’m not doing it unless I’m on the soundtrack because you had me do nine audition songs. Nine. Nine.’”
