OlderWho Stars on Freeform's New Show 'Grown-ish'? Meet The Full Cast Here!
We are so excited about the premiere of grown-ish tonight on Freeform!
The series is a spinoff from ABC’s black-ish, and centers on Zoey � Dre and Rainbow’s popular, entitled, stylish and socially active 17-year-old daughter – as she heads off to college and quickly discovers that not everything goes her way once she leaves the nest.
The show is a contemporary take on the current issues facing both students and administrators in the world of higher education.
“It’s edgier,” Yara says of the show. “It’s not what we’re used to seeing of Zoey or many kids. What I really loved is that it allowed us to relish our youth in a way that isn’t usual on network comedies.”
She adds that the network was perfect for the show too: “Because [Freeform is] so aware of their demographic, we were allowed to tell those storylines without so much [interference]. I know the one note we got from ABC – rightfully so, too – was, ‘Where’s the adult presence?’ On Freeform, that isn’t the case, because it is just so much about our stories as these college students and we’re allowed to really revel in it.”
grown-ish will air back-to-back episodes TONIGHT, starting @ 8PM ET/PT on Freeform.
