Zendaya is all smiles while stopping by The Alli Simpson Show recently on Radio Disney!
In case you missed it, the 19-year-old actress/singer opened up about a variety of topics. Check it:
On being a role model: “I like the word real model a little bit better because, you know, if you’re a role model, then you’re kind of pretending, right? You’re in a role. And for me I don’t feel like I’m pretending to be anyone or in a role. I’m not being someone else, I’m just completely being myself. And in being myself and being true to myself, that in turn inspires and helps other people.”
On handling negative criticism: “Those are strangers, virtually that know nothing about you. You’re probably never gonna meet them in your life, so you can’t let that stuff affect you and let it hurt you. And another thing is, you have the control. Turn it off. If you don’t want to see something, if you don’t want to be involved, delete it.”
On fashion trends: “I don’t believe in trends. I think that anything that’s cool now is not gonna be cool later, and anything that was cool later will be cool now. It’s a constant cycle. Trend isn’t a thing, it’s constantly moving. You might as well just focus on wearing whatever you want because it’s gonna be old anyway. So, just do you.”

Alli Simpson has a very special guest on her Radio Disney show this week — former First Daughter, Chelsea Clinton!
The 18-year-old model and radio host spoke to Chelsea about her time in the White House and female empowerment. Check out a sneak peek:
On growing up in the White House: “I’m really grateful to my parents in that I think it was just about as normal as possible in that we had dinner together every night and my parents always welcomed my friends to come over and my friends would spend the night and we would play hide-and-go-seek and like watch movies and they just tried to make it a normal home. I think…I never forgot, though, that it was also really extraordinary and I would come home from ballet class or school or a friend’s house and I would walk into the White House and I always was aware of being part of this extraordinary history and I felt a responsibility to be respectful of that history,”
On female empowerment: “I think it is important for any group of people that historically have been marginalized or not given a voice are given a voice, are supported in having our voices heard whether that is women or minority communities or the Native American community here in the United States or the LGBT community; and I think those of us who have been privileged by history, by circumstance, whether the color of our skin or gender, have a responsibility to listen when people are raising their voices and being included in the conversation when historically they haven’t been.”
The Alli Simpson Show airs on Fridays at 7PM PT/10PM ET and can be heard on Sirius/XM, TuneIn Radio, Aha Radio, and the Radio Disney app, among other platforms.
