The Vamps Talk 'Controversy' Behind 'I Found A Girl'

The Vamps head out of the ITV Studios in London, England on Wednesday morning (March 16).

The guys — Connor Ball, Brad Simpson, James McVey and Tristan Evans — came together to chat about their brand new song, “I Found A Girl”.

Speaking with DigitalSpy about the track, The Vamps explained the story behind the song — about a girl who turns down a guy because she likes women and it’s actually based on something that happened to them!

“It’s a concept that happened to one of us but we embellished it and exaggerated it in the song. It was never a relationship where she went off with anyone or anything,” James shared. “One of us started liking someone and then she said, ‘No, I like girls’. It wasn’t great. friend-zoned to the max. It’s just a funny thing and we’re not trying to be controversial.”

The Vamps Play Human Hungry Hippos At Sport Relief Event in Birmingham

The Vamps Play Human Hungry Hippos At Sport Relief Event in Birmingham

The Vamps pose for a pic before some games while visiting the Fairfax Secondary School for Sport Relief 2016 in Birmingham, England earlier this week.

The guys — Connor Ball, Brad Simpson, James McVey and Tristan Evans — stepped out for the Try-A-Thon fundraising event to bring awareness to the upcoming Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games on March 18th-20th.

The ‘Action 4 Bullying’ project runs after-school projects twice weekly to help support young victims of bullying. As part of their visit, the band was asked a series of questions about the project and their own experiences with bullying.

“We’ve all experienced bullying at some point so knowing that projects like Action 4 Bullying which is haven aside from school, where you can speak with people in the same situation is so reassuring,” Brad shared at the event. “Seeing it first-hand is really nice and it’s obvious how much of an impact Action 4 Bullying has on the kids. As for advice, I would say you are going to be okay; it will stop, you’ll grow up and get your life together and it will all be fine.”

James added, “Sport Relief is just such a beneficial cause, why wouldn’t you want to get involved?! Taking part in the Games or even just fundraising is great sense of achievement and you can keep fit and healthy while you do it. Supporting Sport Relief means kids like the ones at Action 4 Bullying can get the support they need; they can make friends and grow their confidence.”
