Charlie Puth returned to his alma mater, Berklee College of Music, in honor of his most recent album Voicenotes!
The “How Long” crooner attended the Spotify event on Thursday (July 12) in Boston.
Spotify hosted the special workshop and intimate live performance, during which Charlie was joined by singer Kara DioGuardi (his former teacher!) and the students.
“I’m on cloud nine right now, you know why?” Charlie asked the crowd gathered at Cafe 939 on campus. “I played a show in front of 15,000 people last night. But my first show ever was in this room, it’s come full circle.”
Charlie also gave advice to the upper semester top-performing students from the songwriting department. He listened to the their original songs, sang along, and provided feedback, including, “Your hit song is not in the distant future, it can be as close as you want it to be. Don’t get frustrated.”
After his five-song set, Charlie shared, “You guys are all brilliant. It took me 10 years to get here, and you can do it too. It’s just about persistence but enjoy Berklee while you’re at it!”
