We are getting a brand new look at Melissa McCarthy as Ursula in the upcoming live action reimagining of The Little Mermaid!
Disney just debuted a new clip from the upcoming movie, which features the actress as the sea witch, and it even has a snippet of her singing “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”

Halle Bailey wears white to the UK premiere of her new movie The Little Mermaid held at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Monday (May 15) in London.
The 23-year-old singer and actress was seen meeting some young fans, and even hugging a little girl who carried Halle‘s Ariel doll.
Halle has been very vocal about being representation for young Black girls and kids, and what their reactions to seeing her as a Disney princess means to her.

Halle Bailey looks amazing while stepping out on the blue carpet at the premiere of her new movie The Little Mermaid held at Dolby Theatre on Monday (May 8) in Hollywood.
The 23-year-old star was also seen meeting up with the original voice of Ariel Jodi Benson on the carpet and inside the after party.
If you didn’t know, Jodi reportedly has a little cameo in the film, with a sort of passing the torch moment.
“She doesn’t need any advice from me. She’s brilliant. I did get to meet her a few times and chat with her, and just to tell her how proud I was of her,” Jodi told ET on the carpet. “But I love that she has a purity of heart and a pure spirit. You can see that vulnerability, and that child-like, and that bravery and courage coming through. It’s beautiful. I’m so thrilled for her and I’m so proud of her.”
Also hitting the carpet at the premiere were Halle‘s co-stars Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy, with husband Ben Falcone and daughter Vivian, Javier Bardem, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay, Noma Dumezweni, Art Malik, Simone Ashley, Lorena Andrea, Jessica Alexander and Sienna King. Director Rob Marshall, producer John DeLuca, composer Alan Menken and Disney CEO Bob Iger were in attendance as well.

There’s definitely one big difference between the original animated The Little Mermaid and the upcoming live action adaptation!
While both are based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale, the new adaptation will actually feature Ursula the sea witch and King Triton as estranged siblings.

The full version of Halle Bailey‘s “Part of Your World” from the upcoming The Little Mermaid was just released!
The 23-year-old entertainer’s full rendition is sure to blow away, especially on the second half of the song.
The track was released exactly one month before the film hits theaters, and as tickets go on sale.
In addition to the full song, we also got new character posters for the main cast, featuring Halle, Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem and Melissa McCarthy, as well as the animal characters Sebastian (Daveed Diggs), Scuttle (Awkwafina) and Flounder (Jacob Tremblay), plus a new TV spot, featuring more new scenes from the movie, featuring all of these characters!

Melissa McCarthy is opening up about taking on the iconic role of Ursula in the upcoming live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
The actress made an appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday (April 25) where she talked about her version of the character and more.
“It was a crazy fever dream. It’s just ridiculous,” she said. “It is weirdly, it’s the movie that I have watched more, more than any other movie in the world. I was a nanny, so we watched it for like two years, every night, that’s what we wanted to watch. So I have an absolute love for the movie and for Ursula, so to get to step into those tentacles was really something.”
Melissa also opened up about singing Ursula’s song “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and following in the footsteps of the original voice actress.

The full trailer for the live action The Little Mermaid is just about exactly the same as the original 1989 animated version.
In true Disney live action remake fashion, the trailer mirrors that of it’s animated counterpart, just as they’ve done with past trailers.
