Confession time — JJJ is seriously still in love with the brilliance of Wizards of Waverly Place.
We love everything about it — from Alex’s snarkiness, Justin’s smartness, Max’s weirdness, Harper’s crazy outfits to the magic, the monsters and everything. We just love it.
The 23-year-old singer and actor recruited his Dirty Dancing co-star for the visual which aludes to a past relationship.
Speaking with Seventeen, Shane admitted that the song is about his former girlfriend, Bridgit Mendler.
“Yeah, I mean I don’t want to get too much into the details of it, but the song for me definitely has that connection to my life personally,” Shane shared. “I think it’s important for people to know that when I do write music, it’s not made up stories.”
He added, “It’s about the heartbreak of knowing that the person that you once loved is not with you anymore – they’re with someone else. And just battling those emotions which I think are super relatable. There are a lot of personal references, obviously, and it’s very close to my own experience. I hope people can connect to it in an emotional way.”
Shane Harper heads back to the beach for his “Like I Did” lyric video.
“All of my songs are kind of a digital diary for me. But ‘Like I Did,’ in particular, is very close to home,” the 23-year-old singer/actor told TeenVogue. “The beach has special ties to the inspiration of the song.”
Shane added, “Also I’m from a beach town so I thought it was a nice way to bring a personal element to the lyric video. Not to mention, I was pretty obsessed with skateboarding as a kid.”
