The 21-year-old former One Direction singer thanked fans for their support on Twitter earlier that day when he announced his grandmother had passed away.
Zayn and Gigi, 20, have been spending the week together in New York City and were recently seen roaming the city while Gigi looked for apartments.
Zayn has made multiple appearances on Gigi’s Instagram and Snapchat, and hasn’t shied away from publicly flirting with the model on social media.

The 22-year-old singer wrote about the news on Twitter to his fans, writing, “Thank you for your support and love .. My grandma was a beautiful person and will be missed dearly x.”
After news that his grandmother had passed, fans made #ZaynStayStrong trend.
Zayn‘s sister, Waliyha, wrote on Instagram of their grandmother, “R.I.P to my grandma I love you more than anything in the world my angel it was so hard to see you struggle the way you have been but I know your in a better place now with my granddad he’ll be so happy to see you after so many years.”

The 22-year-old singer and the 20-year-old model are most likely looking for a new place for Gigi as she sold her apartment recently after an intruder broke in.
Gigi and Zayn have started to become more public about their relationship on social media. Over the weekend, she posted a shirtless photo of him on Instagram and he also tweeted about a shirt that she wore in support of his favorite team.

The 20-year-old model didn’t write a caption for the photo or show the 22-year-old ex-One Direction singer’s face, but his many tattoos were a dead giveaway for fans. They recognized Zayn in the black and white pic right away!
Gigi intensified relationship rumors the day before when she posted a photo of herself wearing an old Bradford City Football Club shirt on Twitter, which Zayn was quick to confirm was actually his.

Zayn quoted the tweet and added, “It’s a lil old ;).” We’re guessing it’s his old shirt!
Music exec Simon Cowell is not pleased with former One Direction band mate Zayn Malik.
It all stems back from the 22-year-old entertainer’s interview with The Fader last month, where he called 1D’s music “generic.”
“If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f—, so they could use that version. Whenever I would suggest something, it was like it didn’t fit us,” Zayn said.
“There was just a general conception that the management already had of what they want for the band, and I just wasn’t convinced with what we were selling,” Zayn continued. “I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me. It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people. As much as we were the biggest, most famous boy band in the world, it felt weird. We were told to be happy about something that we weren’t happy about.”
Simon gave an interview to The Mirror, where he was asked about Zayn‘s comments.
“It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff,” Simon said. “I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band.”
