Cruel Summer's Chiara Aurelia Shares What It Was Like Filming 3 Different Years

Cruel Summer premieres TONIGHT (April 20) and one of the stars is dishing on the filming process!

Chiara Aurelia plays Jeanette on the new Freeform series, and she recently opened up on what it was like filming three different years on the show.

If you didn’t know, the show takes place over three summers in the 90s when a beautiful and popular teen (Olivia Holt) goes missing, and a seemingly unrelated girl (Aurelia) transforms from a sweet and awkward outlier to the most popular girl in town, eventually becoming the most despised person in America.

“[It] was such a great opportunity to explore almost three different people in three different times in Jeanette’s life, and I felt like I’ve never seen a project where you got the opportunity to do that before,” she told THR. “Certain days I’d come in in the morning, we’d do a scene from ’93 where she’s really happy and excited, and then we’d do a quick wig changeover and we’d be in ’95 [and] things would be pretty morbid.”

In case you missed it, check out Chiara and the cast at the premiere screening last week. Be sure to also check out all of the pics and clips from the first two episodes!

Cruel Summer premieres TONIGHT (April 20) at 9pm ET/PT on Freeform.
