There are regular group selfie pics, and then there are Team USA selfie pics and the US Figure Skating Olympic team has one of the best!
Ice dancer Alex Shibutani snapped the epic shot of the (almost the) whole team after winning the bronze medal at the team event over the weekend in South Korea at the Olympics — and it was quickly shared by the entire team on social media.
Bradie Tennell captioned it, “Squad goals”, and we definitely have to agree.
Nathan Chen, Adam Rippon, Mirai Nagasu, pairs skaters Alexa Scimeca Knierim and Chris Knierim, and Alex‘s sis and ice dance partner Maia Shibutani are all featured in the photo.
“I’m just so proud of this entire team,” Maia shared afterwards. “It was so special for us. This is the first team event that Alex and I were a part of. To have this experience at the Olympic Games, to come away with a medal for our country and for each other, I think we’ll come into the individual event with so much more confidence.”
Mirai Nagasu totally blew us away at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics!
The 24-year-old just became the first American figure skater to land the rare and incredibly difficult triple axel during the Olympics!
Mirai completed the move during the free skate portion of the figure skating team event on Monday morning (February 12) in PyeongChang, South Korea.
The move, which requires a forward takeoff and three-and-a-half rotations in the air, has only ever been completed in competition by Mirai , Tonya Harding and Kimmie Meissner. However, they didn’t do it at the Olympics.
Congratulations Mirai!

Alex and Maia Shibutani are opening up about why they chose to skip out on the 2018 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Friday (February 9).
The ice dancers and siblings took to Twitter to explain their absence to fans.
“@MaiaShibutani and I didn’t march in the #OpeningCeremony,” Alex captioned the photo of the two below. “We missed being with our @TeamUSA teammates, but it was important for us to get good rest before we start competing. We still got into our uniforms and took pics with our friends before they left for the Olympic Stadium.”
“Photos from last night!” Maia added on her own Twitter. “@AlexShibutani and I didn’t attend the #OpeningCeremony so that we could prepare for our competition, but we took some pictures with our @TeamUSA teammates before they went to the stadium! 😊❤️🇺🇸 #TeamUSA #WinterOlympics.”
