The 20-year-old actor was nominated for Choice TV Actor: Drama for his role on The Fosters.
“A HUGE thank you to all my fans! I am truly blessed to have so much love and support from all of you across the world. This would not be possible without you. You know what to do. #TeenChoice #VoteForJake,” he captioned a photo of the nominees.
This comes after the news that Jake‘s role of Jesus is being recast.
Still reeling from last night’s summer premiere of The Fosters?! Us too!
SPOILER ALERT! We learned that no one died in the car accident – including Jesus (Jake T. Austin) – but we later found out that the role is being recast, and we won’t see that character for a while.
Creator Peter Paige opened up about why they decided not to kill Jesus, or any of the characters for that matter.
“I’m glad to actually have the opportunity to get this out into the world because people will be like ‘what?!’ We just didn’t feel like we could kill one of our kids,” Peter told Xfinity.com. “We just thought it would ruin the show. We thought it would take over the show and we still thought we had interesting stories to tell on Ana and I just wasn’t going to kill another baby.”
He continued, “We all talked about every permutation at length. Really. The three of us – me, Bradley [Bredeweg, executive producer] and Joanna [Johnson, executive producer] – but also with the whole writing team, who are all so amazing…So it was a difficult decision but the key was there was one ‘reported’ fatality so it was reported by someone at the scene that they thought Ana was dead but she pulls through. Honestly, we were trying to protect the fans.”
WHAT DID YOU THINK about Jesus surviving the accident and the fact that he’s being recast?
Jake T. Austin is all smiles while attending a meet and greet for his fans at the Espace Sorbier on Thursday (April 30) in Paris, France.
The 20-year-old actor was recently praised by his former Fosters co-star Bailee Madison, who opened up about the cliffhanger for his character Jesus.
“I don’t know! I wish I had that answer but I actually don’t know myself,” Bailee told Teen.com about what happens. “Jake is great and so talented. It’s sad that he may not be coming back, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the creators have in store for all of us.”
