'Arrow' Cast Dishes on 'Cinematic' Final Season at Comic-Con

It’s Stephen Amell‘s last Comic-Con with the Arrow cast!

The actor, who plays Oliver Queen on the CW series, spoke at the TV Guide Magazine Fan Favorites panel during 2019 Comic-Con International at San Diego Convention Center on Friday (July 19) in San Diego.

He was joined by his co-star Candice Patton (Iris West).

Their other co-stars Rick Gonzalez (Rene Ramirez), Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance), and Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake) attended BuzzFeed Presents: A Batsh!t Crazy Bash With The CW’s Batwoman at San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter.

“Last night was super emotional,” Stephen told ET at the event. “It actually caught me off guard, the number of people who came up [to me.] The director of Supergirl took like five minutes to thank me – which feels weird – for getting their break on Arrow.”

“It feels great,” he added about the upcoming eighth and final season. “I think that [for] the cast and the crew, it’s starting to feel a teensy bit like a victory lap. It feels awesome … I was about to drop an F-bomb, but it feels awesome!”

“I think it’s a tribute,” David Ramsey (John Diggle) chimed in. “There’s a certain amount of what Stephen said: a victory lap. There’s a lot of stuff from the past. There’ll be some old faces that will show up. And I think, in terms of the pacing, it’s changed because we usually do this in 22 episodes, and now we’re doing it in 10, so it’s going to have the sense of a movie every time you watch an episode.”

“It almost feels cinematic,” Katie, who will be directing episode three, shared. “Each episode is huge.”

The final season of Arrow premieres on October 15!

Stephen Amell Reacts to 'Arrow' Ending: 'You Can't Be a Vigilante Forever'

That’s a wrap on The CW’s Arrow.

The show, which debuted in 2012, will end with season eight, Variety reports.

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,” series executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Beth Schwartz said in a statement. “We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

Star Stephen Amell tweeted, “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever…There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”

Arrow also stars David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Echo Kellum, Katie Cassidy, Rick Gonzalez, Juliana Harkavy, Colton Haynes, Kirk Acevedo, and Sea Shimooka.

Juliana Harkavy Suits Up as Black Canary For 'Arrow' - See Her Costume!

Juliana Harkavy Suits Up as Black Canary For 'Arrow' - See Her Costume!

Juliana Harkavy has suited up!

The Arrow star is showing off her brand new suit for the upcoming season, as her character Dinah Drake finally steps into Black Canary’s heels.

“I think the fact that she’s in the costume at all says a lot about where she is, mentally and emotionally,” Juliana told EW.

She adds, “One of the first things she ever said about the team was they were in Halloween costumes…she’s cool, she’s not a costume girl. The fact that she now takes it seriously, it shows that this team really means something to her now, it’s important to her and she wants to be part of it. This is her letting go.”

And Juliana‘s favorite part of the suit? “I just love the lines of it. Especially when you have a staff, it looks like the whole thing is moving even when you’re still. The texture is really cool. It’s almost something out of outer space.”

EP Wendy Mericle also teased Dinah’s arc coming up in season 6.

“This is going to be a big thing for all of them, and there’s a question of she’s a cop as well as the Black Canary,” she shares. “How is she going to balance that? How is she going to keep that secret? How is she going to live her life and still fight crime at night?”

“We really wanted the team to explore a lot of the questions that Oliver explored in season 1.”

Arrow will return on Thursdays this fall on The CW.
