Katie Stevens Claps Back at Man Who Says She Needs To 'Learn To Deal With' Catcalling

Katie Stevens Claps Back at Man Who Says She Needs To 'Learn To Deal With' Catcalling

Katie Stevens was one of the many women who stood up on Twitter with the #MeToo campaign, launched by actress Alyssa Milano.

This morning, The Bold Type actress opened up on how, while she’s never been a victim of sexual harassment herself, she has been catcalled, and was inspired by the countless others who were coming forward and sharing their own stories.

“Some men will never know what it’s like to walk down the street, be catcalled, fear for their safety or the sanctity of their space. #metoo,” Katie wrote.

“Thank you to the brave men and women who have spoken up and said #metoo about their experiences. You are not alone in this.”

In response, one man told Katie to learn to “deal with” the countless advances made by men, including catcalling — and her reply was perfect.

“Sorry, not gonna ‘learn to deal with it.’ I’ve said ‘not interested’ and then get called a ‘b****.’ Unwanted attention.. Unwanted=harassment.”

After her tweet, another came forward (this time a woman), who rather sarcastically said that “Sure, you haaaate it when men think you’re attractive and vocalize it. Boo hoo, you’re so oppressed.”

Katie wasn’t having that at all — and neither are we. Is this actually a real person?!

“Yeah, I hate it when it’s vocalized in a disgusting manner that makes me feel unsafe & uncomfortable. nice of you to condescend me though,” Katie responded. “If you don’t mind someone complimenting your ass that’s your choice but its important to support women who do mind and don’t want that.”

If you’re lost about all of this, let us explain: IT’S NEVER OKAY FOR ANYONE TO CATCALL. EVER.

'The Bold Type' Stars Would Love To See The Girls Go on Vacation Together in Potential Season 2

'The Bold Type' Stars Would Love To See The Girls Go on Vacation Together in Potential Season 2

The Bold Type is one of the best shows of this summer and truth be told, JJJ already misses it!

Showrunner Sarah Watson already dished about what she’s hoping for in season two, and now it’s the stars turn.

Katie Stevens, Meghann Fahy and Aisha Dee opened up to ET about what kind of storylines they would like to see in a potential season two — and it’s all about a vacation.

“I think vacation episodes of shows are the best, ’cause you’re like, what are they doing out of the place where they live?!” Meghann shares. “It’s always so jarring, but also really exciting.”

Katie continues her hopes, saying, “I want this season to have, even though we had a dinner party with us at Richard’s, I want, like, I would love to see us all on a date together with our people.”

“Like, if I’m with Pinstripe, or deciding what that is, Pinstripe, [Sutton] and Richard, [Kat] and Adena.”

“Maybe they go to the Hamptons together to Richard’s house in the Hamptons!” Aisha adds.

We’re on board with that!

Katie Stevens Wanted To Be Known For More Than Just American Idol

Katie Stevens Wanted To Be Known For More Than Just American Idol

Do you remember when Katie Stevens was on American Idol?

If you don’t, you’re missing out because she was insanely good.

Katie spoke to THR recently about her time on the reality show and how she moved past just being “Katie from Idol”, and onto a really amazing acting career.

“I was getting discouraged in music,” she revealed after her stint on the show. “I started auditioning…I was trying to network with anybody that I possibly could. I was taking two acting classes a week and auditioning.”

Katie continues, “I didn’t necessarily hit rock bottom, but I was working at Sprinkles Cupcakes and trying to make money, not wanting to tell anybody that I was getting a job because other people that I knew from Idol were like, ‘Why aren’t you singing places and making money off of the Idol name?’ And I was like, ‘Because I don’t only want to be known for that.’”

And now, she isn’t. She’s known for Faking It, and her own music, and The Bold Type, and there’s even more she will be known for.

Katie still has nothing but love for Idol though: “American Idol gives people really wonderful opportunities, and they shouldn’t take flack for what people do with that opportunity after they leave the show.”

“A lot of casting rooms I was in, that was the only thing on my résumé, and people would just be like, ‘Oh, here’s Katie Stevens. Another American Idol girl who thinks she could be an actor,’” she remembers.

Katie is proof that anyone coming from American Idol can do big things.

“While some are deep in thought about a fruit bowl, i’m indulging in a Unicorn Dreamtini,” she captioned the pic featuring her co-star Matt Ward. “Happy Saturday kids, be good!”

She also gave a shout-out to their other co-star Dan Jeannotte for the photo credit.

Scarlet Magazine’s signature cocktail is fruity and colorful, topped with whipped cream, a sugar rim, a twisty rainbow lollipop, an umbrella, and a very loopy straw.

While it looks amazing, showrunner Sarah Watson revealed on Twitter, “The ones on set were almond milk, food coloring, and glitter. Can anyone help us our w a real recipe? @Cosmopolitan, you guys got anything?”

Drink up!

Don’t miss the season finale of The Bold Type when it premieres this Tuesday (September 5) on Freeform.

Katie Stevens Reveals How She Really Felt When 'Faking It' Was Cancelled

No lies, when Faking It was cancelled by MTV, it was one of the hardest things for us to come to terms with — and it looks like Katie Stevens is with us.

The actress, who starred as Karma on the show, wrote a beautiful thank you to fans afterwards.

Speaking with THR recently, Katie opened up about how she really felt after the show ended.

“I tried to always set myself up for the failures so that it wasn’t such a tough fall,” she says. “It’s like, ‘Cool. First season down. That was amazing. That was an experience that I’ll never forget in my life, but if we don’t get a season two, then we don’t.’”

“But, at the same time, when we found out that we were canceled, I sobbed. I sobbed like my life was ending.”

Us too, Katie. Us too.

Faking It was hard for me to let go of because I knew how many kids it helped,” she adds. “These kids’ stories that we were telling…I got so many heartbreaking messages of like, ‘This show helped me, and now I feel like there’s not something like this for me to watch to get past this.’”

When can this show be revived? We miss it sooooo much!

Katie Stevens Spills on the End of Janestrip: 'It Could Rise Again'

Our hearts totally shattered when Jane and Ryan called things off on The Bold Type, but their relationship may not be over yet!

Katie Stevens, who stars as Jane, is a huge fan of Janestrip and recently reassured fans that we might not have seen the last of the ship!

“Poor Janestrip! The ship may sink tonight, but it stays afloat. It could rise again,” Katie told TV Guide.

She added, “I think it’s a frustrating episode to watch because you’re like, ‘Jane, what are you doing? You really like him!’ And then you’re like, ‘Pinstripe, what are you doing? You really like her! Why are you guys not communicating like normal people?’”

“None of these adults are communicating like adults. But I think things need to blow up so they can get pieced back together. I will say it’s not the last you see of Pinstripe. I ship my own ship,” Katie joked.
