Shailene Woodley Talks 'Divergent' Fandom

Shailene Woodley keeps a low profile while spending time with family and friends on Sunday afternoon (March 3) in Venice, Calif.

The 22-year-old actress recently opened up about the Divergent fandom and how she’s preparing for the film’s release.

“I just gotta do me, surround myself with people I care about,” Shailene told Esquire. “The one thing I will say about fandom is that it’s a fire I will not feed. There’s a lot of things wrong with our modern day. We idolize people we don’t know, and we idolize people who aren’t doing things in a certain way, but dressing a certain way. And that’s not something I want to participate in. I want to idolize people who are out there every day, fighting for beautiful causes.”

Later that night, Shailene stepped out at a screening of for the film at Regal Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Ga.
