Sam Smith Talks About His Sexuality on 'Ellen'

Sam Smith takes the stage with host Ellen DeGeneres on her show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing on Monday (December 1).

The 22-year-old entertainer performed his hit “I’m Not The Only One” and talked about his sexuality on the show.

“I came out at a very, very young age. I kind of just felt like I needed to mention it before I released the record so people knew what it was about. And it felt like a brave thing to do as well I wanted to do it before because if I did it afterwards people probably would have thought I was lying just to sell records,” Sam said. “It didn’t feel like a coming out. I came out when I was like 4 years old. My mom said she knew when I was like three. So I didn’t have to actually properly come out.”

“I’m 22 as well. I�m still trying to figure everything out,” Sam added.
