Rachel Platten Admits Her 'Ego Was Kind of Shot' Before 'Fight Song' Success

Rachel Platten strikes a pose while signing copies of her album Wildfire at Barnes & Noble at The Grove on Monday (January 3) in Los Angeles.

The “Fight Song” singer recently opened up about releasing the critically-acclaimed lead single.

“I hadn’t released anything in years, and my ego was kind of shot,” Rachel told Glamour. “I was embarrassed to be like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna put myself out there again and try.’ That was kind of scary because I didn’t have much confidence in my career at that point.”

Rachel continued, “But within moments of releasing it, there was like a flood of comments that were very, very personal and reactive and people saying, ‘This song made me cry. I just shared this with my friend who needs this song.’ And that reached me pretty quickly, like, OK, this might be as special as I had hoped.”
