Demi Lovato gave an inside look at her past in the July 2016 issue of American Way magazine, available now.

The 23-year-old entertainer opened up about her struggles with body image, predicting her trip to rehab and her future children. Check it:

On her body issues starting as a toddler: “Even though I was 2 or 3 years old, being around [my mom] who was 80 pounds and had an active eating disorder…it’s hard not to grow up like that.”

On ending up in rehab like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan: “Making Camp Rock, I was definitely like, ‘Oh crap. In three years, that’s going to be me.'”

On thinking she was going to die young: “I lived fast and I was going to die young…I didn’t think I would make it to 21.”

On not letting her parents discipline her: “I’d say, ‘What are you going to do? I pay the bills!’ I put my parents in an uncomfortable position. There’s no manual on how to parent a pop star.”

On worrying about her future children’s mental health: “I’m nowhere near having children, but already I ask myself questions. My grandma had bulimia, my mom had it, I had it, and hopefully my kids won’t have it, but it’s kind of like addiction. It’s hereditary.”
