Yara Shahidi Starts Her Own Conversations With 'Paper Mag'

Yara Shahidi becomes the 2010s siren we all know she is in this shot from Paper Magazine‘s 1000 Beautiful People feature.

The 16-year-old actress opened up about politics and starting her own conversations with the glossy. Check it:

On differing from her black-ish character Zoey: “I think it’s nice that the projects I’m on have given me the platform to continue the conversation and then create my own conversation. It’s been a cool thing to be able to say, ‘This is what my character thinks, but this is what Yara thinks.’”

On politics: “When you look at the RNC, it’s somewhat terrifying, and being a young, black woman with the last name ‘Shahidi,’ it seems as though I am the antithesis of what Trump stands for.”
