Twitter Takes Steps to Eliminate Online Bullying

Twitter is finally taking steps to help stop abusive tweets and online bullying!

After bring criticized for their lack of involvement in curbing online hate speech and abusive language, the social media site revealed the ways they are working to fight it.

The site announced on Tuesday (November 15) that it will now be easier for users to hide content they do not wish to see and to report abusive posts.

“Because Twitter happens in public and in real-time, we’ve had some challenges keeping up with and curbing abusive conduct. We took a step back to reset and take a new approach, find and focus on the most critical needs, and rapidly improve. There are three areas we’re focused on, and happy to announce progress around today: controls, reporting, and enforcement,” the company said in a statement.

Users will now be able to mute keywords, phrases and entire conversations they don’t want to see notifications about in addition to easily reporting abuse that will be handled by a specialized team.

This sounds like a great start to eliminating hateful posts on Twitter!
